Please read: indicative estimates only
The numbers on this page are indicative estimates for guidance only — not financial or insurance advice. Actual premiums and cover depend on the insurer's underwriting, your health profile and policy terms. Please confirm with the insurer or an IRDAI-registered advisor before deciding.
How it works
We start from an illustrative baseline annual rate per ₹1 crore of cover for a male non-smoker in your age band, then scale it linearly with your chosen cover. Indicative adjustments: female ×0.90, smoker ×1.50, and policy terms of 30+ years ×1.10. The result is rounded to the nearest ₹100. Real insurer quotes also reflect medical underwriting, occupation, riders and discounts — which is why this stays an estimate.
Why does term insurance get costlier with age?
Term premiums rise with age because mortality risk increases. Buying young locks in a lower indicative rate for the whole policy term.
Do smokers pay more for term insurance?
Yes. Insurers typically charge smokers significantly higher premiums — our estimator applies a 1.5x illustrative multiplier for smokers.
Are these premium figures guaranteed?
No. These are indicative estimates from illustrative rate tables. Actual premiums depend on insurer underwriting, medical tests and policy terms.
