Please read: indicative estimates only The numbers on this page are indicative estimates for guidance only — not financial or insurance advice. Actual premiums and cover depend on the insurer's underwriting, your health profile and policy terms. Please confirm with the insurer or an IRDAI-registered advisor before deciding.

How it works

IDV = ex-showroom price × (1 − standard depreciation): under 6 months 5%, 6–12 months 15%, 1–2 years 20%, 2–3 years 30%, 3–4 years 40%, 4–5 years 50%, over 5 years 50%. Indicative own-damage premium ≈ 2.2% of IDV for cars and 2.8% for bikes; third-party uses a simplified flat rate (₹900 bike / ₹3,500 car). Total = own-damage + third-party. Real quotes also factor in no-claim bonus, add-ons, model and RTO zone.

What is IDV in motor insurance?
IDV (Insured Declared Value) is the current market value of your vehicle — the maximum the insurer pays if it is stolen or totalled. It falls each year as the vehicle depreciates.
Is third-party insurance mandatory in India?
Yes. Third-party liability cover is legally mandatory for all motor vehicles in India under the Motor Vehicles Act. Own-damage cover is optional but recommended.
Are these premium figures guaranteed?
No. These are indicative estimates using simplified depreciation and flat third-party rates. Actual premiums vary by insurer, no-claim bonus, add-ons and vehicle model.
